Toronto police have charged a woman with first-degree murder and forcible confinement in the gruesome death of a 24-year-old Toronto man.

George Fawell was found dead with multiple stab wounds and his hands tied behind his back Aug. 24 near the railroad tracks behind the Jimmie Simpson Community Centre near Queen Street and Broadview Avenue.

Police later described the attack at ‘egregious’ and said injuries were inflicted on Fawell in a manner that demonstrated violent rage on the part of the perpetrator. They said it appears Fawell’s body continued to be assaulted after he was dead.

At a news conference in late August, Fawell’s aunt Deanna Parlee pleaded for anyone with information to come forward with information about the murder.

Investigators have said they believe Fawell was likely attacked by more than one person. Police have also said they believe Fawell knew his killer or killers and that those people likely live in Falwell’s neighbourhood.

On Thursday police announced Lori Ann Crook, 39, of Toronto has been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement.

Crook was scheduled to make a court appearance Thursday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
