Toronto police say a 20-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of a 60-year-old woman in North York earlier this month.

Police said Linda Thomas was found dead inside her Hollywood Avenue apartment early March 8 when they responded to a "check-address call."

Thomas was assaulted earlier in the evening and died of blunt force trauma, police said previously.

Two days after the homicide, police said the woman had lived alone in the same apartment for 10 to 15 years and likely knew her attacker. Investigators issued an appeal for tips and assistance in locating Thomas' family.

Police didn't reveal the motive behind the incident.

Detectives arrested and charged a suspect Monday.

Police said 20-year-old Anthony Yim is charged with second-degree murder.

Court documents revealed Yim is wanted on outstanding charges in Sault Ste. Marie, where he skipped a court appearance for a charge of theft, CTV Toronto's Tamara Cherry reported Tuesday.
