Peel Regional Police officers are questioning a man who was wanted in the abduction of his estranged wife, but the 42-year-old woman is still missing.

Police continue to search for Raquel Junio, who was taken against her will from a home on Deerfield Crescent, near Torbram Road and Steeles Avenue East, and forced into a pickup truck Thursday at about 1:35 a.m.

"We're hoping that wherever she is, she's safe and sound," said Peel police spokesman Const. George Tudos. "We are concerned for her safety."

As part of their search, officers went room-to-room at a Comfort Inn hotel in Brampton.

Police are also searching the immediate area around where the vehicle was found with the canine unit.

Investigators believe Junio was abducted by 43-year-old Macdermid Ermacora, who was arrested at Queen Street and Rutherford Road in Brampton shortly before 7 a.m.

Police located Ermacora inside his pickup truck in a parking lot, but Junio wasn't inside the vehicle. The parking lot is located near the hotel.

Tudos said Ermacora has been transported to a police station, where he is being interviewed.

He said investigators are hoping Ermacora will co-operate with them and give them information about Junio's whereabouts. No charges have been laid.

Police are asking people to call 911 or their local police agency if they have information about Junio's whereabouts.

Tudos said Ermacora has been living off and on in the Brampton home where Junio was abducted.

The couple has a three-year-old child. Police said the child is now in the care of other family members and wasn't in danger. Police wouldn't say if the child was in the home with Junio when she was abducted.

Junio is Filipino, 5-foot-2, 120 pounds and has shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators believe the pair was in Ermacora's black 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck before it was found with Ermacora alone inside. The truck has been seized by police and towed from the parking lot.
