OTTAWA - Health Canada says a probiotic natural health product is being recalled because it could contain trace amounts of dairy not declared on the labels.

It says the oral capsules -- Cultures de Yogourt 2 Milliards (NPN 80013273), from the company Bio-Dis Inc. -- are billed as dairy-free, but may have come into contact with dairy during manufacturing.

The announcement Friday comes a day after three other probiotic natural health products were recalled because they could contain trace amounts of dairy or soy protein not declared on their labels.

Oral capsules called Saccharomyces Boulardii (NPN 80013551), made by Advanced Orthomolecular Research Inc., may have come into contact with soy during manufacturing.

The dairy warning also extends to oral capsules called Herbasaurs Bifidophilus for Kids (NPN 80015508) and Acidophilus Bifidobacterium (NPN 80015336), both made by Nature's Sunshine Products of Canada Ltd.

Health Canada says people with allergies to milk or soy can experience a range of mild to severe symptoms when exposed to even small amounts of milk or soy proteins.
