TORONTO -- The Toronto Raptors have reportedly been fined US$25,000 for comments that rap star Drake made about Kevin Durant at a recent concert.

Drake, who serves as the team's global ambassador, used the stage at a concert in Toronto to make a pitch for Durant to sign with the Raptors when he becomes a free agent.

According to a report in ESPN, the NBA deemed Drake's comments to be a violation of its anti-tampering regulation.

Durant was in attendance at the Toronto show when Drake urged the crowd to show their support for the NBA's reigning most valuable player.

"Before we leave, I just want to show one of my brothers something," Drake announced to the crowd. "You know, my brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us. I just want him to see what would happen if he came to play in Toronto. Let him know what would happen."

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016.
