OTTAWA - Ashtone Morgan and Amelia Pietrangelo have earned Canada's under-20 soccer player of the year honours.

Morgan is a fullback and midfielder for his hometown Toronto FC of Major League Soccer, and member of Canada's national team.

He made his international senior debut in World Cup qualifiers in October, coming on a substitute and recording an assist in Canada's 7-0 victory over St. Lucia.

He made his first start with the senior side in Canada's 4-0 win over St. Kitts and Nevis in World Cup qualifying, playing a full 90 minutes.

Morgan made 14 appearance with Toronto FC, and playing in all eight of Toronto's CONCACAF Champions League matches.

Pietrangelo, a forward from Laval, Que., is in her second season with Canada's women's team. At the Pan American Games in October, she came off the bench to score her first international goal in a game against Costa Rica and started two more games en route to Canada's gold medal.
