TORONTO - Toronto FC will start the MLS season without one of its original members after the club released midfielder Carl Robinson.

Toronto head coach Predrag (Preki) Radosavlijevic confirmed the move after the team's practice Monday.

"Carl has been released," Preki told Toronto FC TV. "I was involved with the decision. A decision had to be made taking everything into account and we have to move forward."

Robinson, a former Welsh international, had three goals and seven assists in 74 games over his three seasons in Toronto. He is reportedly on trial with the New York Red Bulls.

"He had already made up his mind he wasn't coming back here," Preki said.
