TORONTO - Neil Young's taking a look at his life for a new memoir.

The tentatively titled "Waging Heavy Peace" is scheduled for release in fall 2012, according to an announcement from publisher Blue Rider Press issued on Tuesday.

Young had mentioned that he was in the process of writing a book while in Toronto recently to promote his upcoming documentary, "Neil Young: Journeys," directed by Jonathan Demme.

The 65-year-old Young's father was a journalist who published a book of his own about his relationship with his son in 1984 called "Neil and Me."

The Toronto-born rock legend released his most recent record, "Le Noise," in 2010.

The Daniel Lanois-produced album earned Young his first-ever Grammy Award for music.

"I felt like writing books fit me like a glove; I started and I just kept going," Young said in a release.

"That's the way my daddy used to do it on his old Underwood up in the attic. He said, 'Just keep writing, you never know what will turn up."'
