Toyota is recalling 32,733 vehicles in Canada due to safety concerns, according to a notice posted by Transport Canada.

“Under certain conditions, a problem with the rearview camera could cause the rearview camera image not to display correctly or at all,” the notice reads.

“A rearview camera image that doesn’t display correctly could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.”

The recall affects some Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Tundra models equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display. For the Tundra models, this recall affects both Tundra and Tundra hybrid models.

The recall includes:

  • Toyota Sequoia 2023 2024 2025
  • Toyota Tundra 2022 2023 2024 2025

Toyota will notify owners in writing and advise those impacted to take their vehicle to a dealership to update the display software.

Individuals can also contact Toyota by calling 1-888-869-6828 or visiting the manufacturer’s website to verify whether their vehicle is impacted.

Recent Toyota recalls

Toyota recalled more than 70,000 other models last month for a software problem that could cause the combination meter in the instrument panel not to display when the vehicle is started.

Due to the software problem, drivers may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales.

The recall applied to vehicles equipped with a 12.3-inch display. Affected models include:

  • Lexus LS, 2024, 2025
  • Lexus RX 500H, 2025
  • Lexus TX, 2024
  • Toyota Camry, 2024
  • Toyota Crown 2023, 2024, 2025
  • Toyota Crown Signia, 2025
  • Toyota GR Corolla, 2023, 2024
  • Toyota Grand Highlander, 2024, 2025
  • Toyota Highlander, 2023, 2024
  • Toyota RAV4, 2023, 2024, 2025
  • Toyota RAV4 Prime, 2023, 2024
  • Toyota Tacoma, 2024
  • Toyota Venza, 2023, 2024

Last month, the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Toyota BZ4X was also recalled for a software problem that could cause the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system to enter a failsafe mode.

If this occurs, the windshield defroster may not work properly, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
