Driver charged for taking sledders on a joyride

A late-night joyride ended with charges for an 18-year-old driver.

Guelph Police said a car was seen spinning in circles inside a parking lot near York Road and Watson Parkway around midnight Thursday.

Ropes had been attached to the vehicle and was pulling two people around on sleds.

Police also said a male was riding around in the car’s open trunk.

The driver, an Oakville man, was charged with stunt driving and his licence was suspended for 30 days. Police noted the vehicle, which belong to one of the sledders, was also impounded for 14 days.

A conviction for stunt driving could result in a licence suspension of one year or more, a minimum fine of $2,000 and six demerit points.
