Ontario’s police watchdog says it’s investigating after a 21-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were seriously injured in a collision following a police chase in Lindsay, Ont. Sunday morning.

The Special Investigations Unit says a Kawartha Lakes police officer was looking for a BMW in response to a 911 call for unknown trouble.

The SIU says the officer stopped behind the parked BMW in a police cruiser, which prompted the driver to flee and the officer to give chase.

During the pursuit, the police watchdog says the BMW collided with a parked car and landed on top of another parked vehicle.

The SIU is asking anyone who witnessed the police pursuit on Victoria Avenue South between Russell Street West and Glenelg Street West to come forward.
