Pierre Poilievre visited Bolton and Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) on Saturday as part of his rally to eliminate federal taxes on fuel.
The federal Conservative and Opposition leader first stopped in Bolton, where he was joined by Kyle Seeback, Dufferin—Caledon MP.
Poilievre then made his way to a truck service centre on County Road 88 in Bradford, where he was joined by Scot Davidson, New Tecumseth—Gwillimbury MP, John Brassard, Barrie South—Innisfil MP and BWG Mayor James Leduc.
“Our Conservative team is fighting to take all Carney’s Liberal taxes off your fuel to save you $1,200 at the pump,” said Poilievre in his social media posts.
In an effort to lower costs, the Conservative ‘Zero Tax on Gas’ initiative is petitioning for the Liberal government to end all federal taxes on gasoline and diesel until the end of the year, and to permanently repeal the clean fuel standard tax.
“Abundant, affordable energy is the lifeblood of a strong economy. Conservatives will fight to take all taxes off gas to protect your paycheque and cost-of-living,” adds Poilievre. He continued his Saturday tour with a stop in Oshawa.

Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal government temporarily suspended fuel excise taxes at the beginning of this past week, which yielded savings of nearly ten cents per litre for regular and four cents for diesel.
However, local gas prices have gone back up by nearly 12 cents since Wednesday, including a five-cent-per-litre spike between Friday and Saturday.
According to Gas Wizard, the average prices for regular and diesel in Barrie on Saturday were 177.9 and 206.9 respectively. The national average was at 171.6 according to the CAA.
