A seven-year-old boy is missing and a kayaker has died at the same conservation area in Hamilton on Wednesday.
The child went missing at Binbrook Conservation Area, at around 3:00 p.m., which is located at 5050 Harrison Road.
In a news release on Thursday, Hamilton police identify the missing child as Nathanael Selambi, who they describe as a Black male with a skinny build, four feet tall, and has short, shaved hair.
He was last seen wearing a white tank top with a Thomas the Tank Engine picture on the front, green shorts with a small orange logo above the left knee, and green swim goggles.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, led by Hamilton police and fire services.
During the search, emergency crews responded to separate reports of a kayaker who had capsized in the area. The man was pulled from the water and taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released a description of the deceased man.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen Selambi or has information on his whereabouts to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
