Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 19-year-old woman in connection with a fatal highway crash in December 2025.
On Dec. 3, police say a vehicle was travelling south on Highway 406 near the Queen Elizabeth Way in St. Catharines when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll into a centre ditch.
An 18-year-old woman from Thorold, who was sitting in the rear passenger seat, was ejected from the vehicle. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to an OPP news release.
A second passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Welland, and the driver, a 19-year-old woman from St. Catharines, were taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Following an investigation, police charged the driver with dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
The charges have not been proven in court. The accused is expected to appear before a judge at a later date.
