Four people have been arrested and a fifth person is still wanted by police following a violent home invasion in Richmond Hill on Monday morning.
According to York Regional Police, officers responded to a weapons call at a residence near May Avenue and Yonge Street at about 7 a.m.
Police say multiple suspects, armed with at least one firearm, allegedly forced their way into the home, confronted a male victim and assaulted him.
Police say the firearm was discharged during the assault, but the victim was not struck by gunfire.
The suspects fled before police arrived.
When officers arrived, they found the victim outside the home with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local trauma centre for treatment.
Police later identified the suspects’ vehicle as a black Cadillac Escalade. With help from the Ontario Provincial Police, officers stopped the vehicle on Highway 401 in Cobourg and arrested a female driver, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time.
Police later arrested three other suspects wanted in connection with the incident.
Georges-Junior Saint-Elien, 31, of Terrebonne, Que.; Christopher Fils-Aime, 25, of no fixed address; Justin Johnson, 25, of Toronto; and Ivy Hewes, 24, of no fixed address, have all been charged in connection with the incident.

Police are now searching for a fifth suspect, described as a Black male wearing a grey hoodie, black pants and white shoes.
