Provincial police say an investigation is underway after a boating incident left one person dead.
West Parry Sound Police say the marine unit was dispatched to a call on Saturday afternoon in Georgian Bay.
Around 12:30 p.m., OPP, Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Carling Fire Department and Killbear Marina responded to a boat capsizing north of Franklin Island.
Upon arrival, police say the boater’s body was found in the capsized vessel.
The deceased was identified as a 67-year-old man from California. Police say he was the lone occupant of the boat.
According to OPP, the vessel was removed from Georgian Bay and an investigation into the death is ongoing.
