There’s a new face mooseying around Collingwood, bringing a little bit of the wild into town.
A moose police have jokingly nicknamed “Elliot Moose” was seen roaming the area Tuesday morning, from waterfront trails to nearby streets.
The Collingwood Ontario Provincial Police are reminding everyone that while the unexpected visitor may be a sight to see, he’s best admired from a distance.
Officers are asking people to be aware of their surroundings and be extra cautious if they come across the moose.
The community is urged to keep dogs leashed at all times, avoid approaching or feeding the animal and maintain a safe distance.
Police say moose are wild animals and can be unpredictable, especially if they feel threatened.
Anyone who crosses paths with Elliot Moose is encouraged to give him plenty of room to move freely and allow him to continue on his way undisturbed.
Police say doing so will help keep residents, pets and Elliot safe as he makes his way through town.
