The website for Citizenship and Immigration Canada crashed Tuesday night as results continued to unfold in a tightly watched U.S. election race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Visitors to the site were greeted by an error message Tuesday night.

For months, pundits and ordinary U.S. citizens have joked that they would pack their bags and move north of the border depending on who wins the election. Results late Tuesday seemed to indicate that Trump was headed for a victory, having picked up a number of key battleground states.

The ministry did not offer any immediate explanation on its Twitter account for the website disruption.

However the hiccup quickly gained attention and picked up speed on social media.
