An eight-year-old child has died after a collision involving two all-terrain vehicles in northeastern Ontario.
The incident occurred on the Friday evening at about 7 p.m., in a field on Cloudslee Road in Plummer Additional Township.
Both Ontario Provincial Police and Algoma Paramedic Services responded to the scene.
“Two ATVs collided and an eight-year-old was ejected,” said police in a news release Saturday.
“The child was wearing a helmet,” said OPP Const. Bev Gauthier in an email to CTV News.
OPP said the child was transported to a hospital in Thessalon, Ont., but was later pronounced deceased.
Investigation ongoing
OPP said their investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing.
“A postmortem is scheduled to take place in Sudbury at a later date,” said police.
No further details about the deceased, the circumstances of the crash or the other individual(s) involved were released by police.
