Ontario Provincial Police say an Ottawa woman is facing several charges after a late-night crash on Highway 417.
According to police, the OPP was called about a driver who struck a center barrier in the eastbound lanes near Carling Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
The vehicle’s airbags deployed, but the driver kept going, police said.
Video shared by police shows a vehicle striking barrier, swerving toward the off-ramp, spinning, and then moving back into traffic.
Police said the vehicle was later located and officers arrested the 28-year-old driver, who was suspected of being impaired and is accused of refusing to provide a breath sample.
She is charged with operation while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, dangerous operation, assaulting a peace officer, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident, and operating an unsafe vehicle.
The driver had her licence suspended for 90-days and had her vehicle impounded for seven days and must now appear in court.
“The OPP would like to thank members of the public who continue to report suspected impaired drivers,” Ottawa OPP Const. Michael Fathi said in a news release.
