Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding drivers to use the right vehicle for the job when transporting anything long or large.

The driver of a Smart car was stopped Monday morning at the intersection of County Road 29 and McNeely Avenue in Carleton Place, Ont. with a tall ladder sticking out the back of the vehicle.

Photos shared by police show the ladder was approximately twice as long as the small vehicle and was pressed up against the dashboard inside the car.

“If you are transporting a ladder (or anything else large), a very small car is not the right choice,” the OPP said.

The driver is charged with having an insecure load under the Highway Traffic Act, according to police.
