Time to dust off your skis and boards and get them tuned up for the season ahead.
Ski and snowboard season 2025/26 is officially set to begin at Ontario’s largest ski resort, Blue Mountain.
The resort is officially opening its slopes to the public on Tuesday first thing at 8:30 a.m. for what promises to be “another incredible winter.” Blue Mountain says the teams have been putting finishing touches on the hills and testing the lifts in advance of the big day.
The Silver Bullet chairlift will be the first to open at 8:30 a.m., along with festivities to celebrate the day, including music and giveaways at the bottom of the chairlift.
The resort is also giving skiers and snowboarders the chance to get photos on top of the mountain at the Tranquility ski run in the Mountaintop Group Portraits from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The On-Mountain Action Shots to capture the excitement in the moment will be happening from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. also on the Tranquility run.
According to Blue Mountain’s Facebook page, night skiing will start on Thurs., Dec. 11. It also announced kids can ski for free during opening week.
Mount St. Louis Moonstone and Horseshoe Valley Resort both opened already last week, while Snow Valley Resort’s opening day is set for Friday.
Cross country ski trails are open at Scenic Caves Nature Adventures, noting on their Facebook page the team has been working hard packing, rolling, and grooming trails, making them in “good shape for both skate and classic skiers.”
Hardwood Ski and Bike is open for cross country skiing also. According to the website, almost all trails are open on Tuesday, saying there’s a light dusting but more snow is on the way.
