Manitoba pup goes viral for shepherding siblings to bus stop

Published:

A video of a Manitoba pup shepherding a pair of siblings to their bus stop has struck a chord with the TikTok masses.

Each morning, nine-year-old Oakes and six-year-old Winnie wait for the bus outside their home near Ste. Anne, Man.

Each morning, their German shepherd Ozzy waits right along beside them.

Rain or shine, the pup walks the siblings to the end of their driveway, waits for the bus to pull up, watches as they get on board and leaves only after the doors are shut and the bus has pulled away.

True to his breed, the daily shepherding just comes naturally to Ozzy.

“He’s kind of always around, making sure that he’s guarding and watching,” dad Steph Pattyn told CTV News.

“As the kids started going out to the bus themselves, because we used to go with them, he was kind of the replacement.”

Their mother Riesha shared a video of the dog’s daily ritual to TikTok.

“Our good boy has never missed a morning of bus stop duty for two years now,” the caption reads.

To the family’s surprise, the video struck a massive chord with the TikTok masses, to the tune of 2.9 million views in a matter of weeks.

Riesha followed up with plenty more content starring Bus Stop Ozzy, as he’s now known to his adoring followers.

“Obviously, people love seeing positive posts and cute things, especially incorporating animals and dogs, but I think the immediate attraction and response was very surprising,” Pattyn said.

The video also garnered some free swag for Ozzy, from dog jackets to boots.

Fame and freebies aside, Pattyn is happy that Ozzy’s followers seem to be just as in love with the good shepherd as his family is.

“That’s really what Ozzy’s personality is. He’s all about the kids and just being there for them.”
