A 21-year-old woman has minor injuries after a Cessna she was piloting crashed near Sarnia on Friday night.
According to a news release from the Sarnia Police Service, at 9:25 p.m. on Friday emergency services were called to the area of Michigan Line and Blackwell Road for the report of a plane crash.
The 21-year-old pilot from Orillia was able to exit the wreckage of the plane through the windshield after the crash.
Upon arrival on scene, police located the pilot, the sole occupant of the plane, with a passing driver who had stopped to render assistance.
Police say she was treated by ambulance at the scene and later transported to hospital with minor injuries consisting of cuts and bruises.
The airplane was a Cessna 172N and had taken off from the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre.
The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time and is under investigation by Transport Canada.
