One Londoner will walk away with $80 million. CTV’s Lauren Stallone has the local reaction.

One Londoner is heading into the new year a whole lot richer.

“We are so excited that the $80 million jackpot was won in Ontario, and it was won in London,” said Tony Bitonti, OLG spokesperson.

The news encouraged other Londoners to check their tickets saying, “I’m pleased that it was someone in London and I’m hoping it was my ticket.”

Another said, “That’s great,” after hearing the news. “It’s really going to change the lives of many people I can expect.”

OLG said this is the first time the $80 million jackpot was won in Ontario.

“One piece of information that we don’t have is who actually bought that ticket,” said Bitonti.

They say when the person comes to claim their prize, they will need to provide inside information about the ticket.

“Which store did you purchase it at? What else did you buy with that ticket? An encore? Pro line? What time did you buy it?” said Bitonti.

This is also the second time since the Lotto Max Jackpot increased to 80 million in March of 2024, that there has been only one winning jackpot ticket.

“There’s always major excitement when a major jackpot, especially 80 million, which is the largest jackpot to be won in Canadian lottery history,” said Bitonti.

“Very exciting for them,” said one Londoner. “I wish it was me.”

When it comes to the lucky winner OLG said it may be a few days or weeks before they come forward.

“Someone has that ticket,” said Bitonti. “Someone beat the odds and won $80 million.”
