Traffic was ‘mooving’ slowly outside the Orillia Costco Saturday afternoon after an escaped cow was roaming freely in the middle of the road.

According to the OPP public information advisor (PIA), officers responded to reports of a cow on the loose just after 1:30 p.m. near University Avenue.

Online photos show the animal standing close to vehicles in live lanes of traffic.

The OPP PIA told CTV News that the cow had exited a trailer before making its way southbound on University avenue.

No injuries or crashes were reported. Police say the owner was advised and helped the officers safely locate and secure the cow.
