Towering proudly on a front lawn in Tiny, Ont., a massive snowman named Frosty is turning heads and collecting donations for the Elmvale and District Food Bank.
Built at 8 Deanlea Blvd., just off Tiny Beaches Road South, Frosty is the project of Antonio Faria, a 78-year-old father and his son Josh Faria.
What started as a fun winter challenge quickly became a community-empowered project. The pair began building roughly five weeks ago and wrapped up the 33-foot snowman just days ago, often working from 4:30 a.m. until sundown.
“This is truly a spectacular sight. The countless hours building Frosty for your viewing pleasure,” say members of the Elmvale and District Food Bank in a social media post.
This isn’t their first snowy spectacle. Back in 2021, the family made headlines after building a 20-foot snowman during the pandemic, but this year, they outdid themselves.
Frosty is 13 feet taller, making him their biggest build yet.
Using snow entirely from their own property, the duo relied on shopping buckets, a ladder, and a pulley system. Every time temperatures warmed and Frosty showed signs of wear, the team told CTV News they were back outside filling gaps and smoothing things out.
A donation bin for the Elmvale and District Food Bank is located at the property and will remain for as long as Frosty is standing.
The Farias are no strangers to imaginative builds. In the past, they’ve even constructed a backyard toboggan run. The pair noted that they like to give something to the community to make them smile.
Donations and perishable food items can be dropped off at 8 Deanlea Blvd.
