A Porter plane slid off the tarmac in Halifax on Wednesday.

A Porter Airlines flight arriving from Toronto Pearson slid on a runway at Halifax Stanfield International Airport Wednesday night.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) says the flight initially landed without incident at 8:21 p.m., but the aircraft slid laterally as it was exiting the runway onto the taxiway.

Emergency Response Services determined the aircraft could not make its way to the terminal on its own and buses were used to take passengers to the terminal.

No one was injured and the aircraft wasn’t damaged.

The flight had 59 passengers and five crew members onboard.

That runway remains closed, pending the plane’s removal by Porter.

“Resources are en route to YHZ to tow the aircraft to facilities on site for inspection and an investigation will be undertaken to determine the circumstances associated with this incident,” Porter said in a statement to CTV Atlantic Thursday morning.

The airport’s other runway is open for scheduled flight operations.

Both runways were briefly closed Wednesday night, but it’s not believed there were any diversions.

“Due to yesterday’s winter storm and weather elsewhere, there are some ongoing delays and cancellations throughout the system. We encourage travellers to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport and leave extra time to adjust to local road conditions,” said Tiffany Chase, a spokesperson for the airport, in an email to CTV Atlantic.

The TSB says it is collecting information and assessing what happened.

Porter added the flight became disabled in snow due to weather conditions.
