Two people are now accused of stealing hundreds of Jellycat toys from stores in southwestern Ontario and selling them online.
A 52-year-old woman from Guelph, Ont., was arrested in December 2025. At that time, officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service recovered 140 Jellycats from her home. The value of those stuffed toys was estimated at $7,500.

On Feb. 13, police revealed new details of the scheme.
“[Investigators] determined that the female, working with a male, had stolen approximately 300 Jellycats, valued at over $15,000, between April and December 2025,” a media release said.
A total of 34 thefts were linked to 17 businesses in Waterloo Region, Guelph, Burlington, Milton, Georgetown, Oakville and Orangeville.

The pair was also accused of selling the Jellycats on an unnamed buy-and-sell platform.
Police said the 52-year-old woman was arrested again on Feb. 11 and charged with theft over $5,000, as well as conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
The man, a 43-year-old from Kitchener, Ont., was arrested on Jan. 30. He was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Police have not identified the suspects.
