Police in Moncton, N.B., are investigating the sudden death of a woman whose body was found inside a garbage bin.
Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death on High Street around 12:10 p.m. Sunday.

“When police arrived, they located a woman deceased outside in a garbage bin,” RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette confirmed to CTV News in an email.
“At this time, police are treating the death as suspicious in nature, and the NB RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating.”
An autopsy has been scheduled to confirm the woman’s identity and determine her cause of death.
“Further questions surrounding what led to the death are part of an ongoing investigation,” said Ouellette.
No arrests have been made at this time.
‘It’s disturbing’
Graham Hill lives next door to where the body was found.
“It was my roommate who discovered the person,” said Hill.
Hill said his roommate then called 911.
“When I came outside, the police were coming down and the officer inspected the garbage can and pulled the woman out to check to see if she had any vitals. She was deceased at the time,” said Hill.
Hill said both he and his roommate gave statements to police.

“It’s disturbing,” said Hill. “We get a lot of homeless people around this area. At the end of the road, we often get shopping carts and garbage that’s been gone through, and that’s what my roommate thought he had seen.”
Hill said his roommate was pretty shaken up after looking in the garbage bin.
“When he looked in, he saw an arm. He called 911 and ran in to get me because he wanted to talk to somebody. He didn’t want to go through that on his own,” said Hill.
Carl Davidson, who lives close to where the body was discovered, heard about it on social media.
“This is getting crazy, the town, the city. They have to do something. Between the drugs and the violence, it’s just getting out of hand,” said Davidson.
Davidson wasn’t sure what was going on at the time, but he did notice the heavy police presence in his neighbourhood on Sunday.
“It was a pretty scary scene,” said Davidson. “When things like this happen, it rattles a whole community.”

Operation on Norwood Street
The RCMP also conducted an operation on Norwood Street in connection with the investigation early Monday morning.
Police said Moncton residents may continue to see investigators on both High and Norwood streets as they continue their investigation.
Ouellette said police don’t believe there is any link between the woman’s death and the inmate who escaped from a jail in Shediac last week.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit.
