A man and woman in their 60s have been arrested after police say they seized cannabis and unstamped tobacco destined for Canso, N.S.
The RCMP says members from Guysborough County and Antigonish County conducted a “targeted traffic stop” on a vehicle in James River on Friday as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Police believe the vehicle was returning to Canso from Ontario when it was stopped.
Officers arrested a man and a woman and seized the following:
- a quantity of shatter
- psilocybin
- hashish
- cannabis
- cash
- 175,000 unstamped cigarettes
- 18 bottles of alcohol
The 61-year-old woman and 60-year-old man, both from Hazel Hill, will face multiple charges related to the illegal sale of cannabis and tobacco products.
They were both released on conditions and are due to appear in Antigonish provincial court on May 27.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
