A 37-year-old man is facing a slew of charges in connection with a crash on Canada Day that left three people dead, including a member of the band Royal Canoe and his partner.
The Winnipeg Police Service took Matthew Govereau into custody on Feb. 14.
Govereau, who was arrested in Winnipeg, is facing 18 charges including three counts of impaired driving causing death, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and three counts careless driving. The charges have not been proven in court.
The update comes more than seven months after the crash that saw a driver veer over the centre line of Highway 10 and hit a parked vehicle. The 42-year-old man and 31-year-old woman inside the parked car died from their injuries, as did the 29-year-old passenger inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Those killed include Brendan Berg, the bassist of Royal Canoe, and his partner Olivia Michalczuk.

Govereau has been taken into custody and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
