Speaking at the scene, OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the good Samaritans that stopped to provide assistance to all these students, to all these kids.”

“I understand that some of the first responders, firefighters and paramedics, may have had children on the bus,” said Sanchuk. “As a father, your heart sinks when you see something like this first thing in the morning, you don’t anticipate this, but the good news is there are only minor injuries to report.”

Motorists in the area are urged to drive according to weather and road conditions.

Old Stage Road was closed between Middletown Line and Old 14 Line but has since reopened.
