Provincial police are investigating a fatal crash that happened in the Kawartha Lakes area Saturday morning.
According to the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment, emergency crews received reports at around 7 a.m. about a single-vehicle crash on Elm Tree Road between Star Road and Riley Lane in Kirkfield.
The OPP says the local female driver, 51, was hospitalized and later died from her injuries.
Elm Tree Road was closed between Star Road and Riley Lane as investigators worked on the scene. The area has since reopened, but the cause of the crash remains to be determined.
Anyone who witnessed the crash and anyone with footage of the incident is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment.
