Video of what authorities describe as an “inexcusable” incident of road rage in B.C. last year has been released in an attempt to identify the suspect.
The alleged assault, which was captured on internal and external dash camera, occurred on Aug. 19, 2025, on Dover Street near Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby, Mounties said in a news release Wednesday.
“Video of the incident shows the suspect approach the victim’s vehicle and punch the driver’s side window, shattering it,” the statement from the detachment said.
“Though the entire interaction lasts only seconds, the suspect also returns to the victim’s vehicle, grabs a cell phone off the dashboard and throws it at the passenger. Both the passenger and the driver sustained injuries from the incident.”

Investigators have identified the registered owner of the vehicle the suspect was in at the time, but the RCMP said that person has “refused” to identify the suspect despite multiple inquiries.
“The video is hard to watch, and the violence displayed is simply inexcusable,” Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj wrote, in the statement, adding that he is hopeful releasing photos of the suspect and video of the incident will help advance the investigation.
