Tim Hortons is recalling its “Donut Mug” due to its potential to break when filled with hot liquid.
The company says it has received 28 reports of incidents in Canada, and one report of a burn injury as of March 10. Tim Hortons offers a full refund to anyone who returns the mug to one of its shops before April 22.
More than 25,000 units have been sold in Canada between January and February, a Health Canada recall notice says. The product was for sale at Tim Hortons locations and at Timshop.ca.
The 16-ounce mug features a donut design on its front and back. The donut changes colour when the cup is filled with hot liquid.
The recall notice advises consumers to immediately stop using the product. Consumers can contact the company at timhortons.ca/support or by emailing support@timshop.ca.
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being given away, sold, or otherwise distributed in Canada.
