Two people killed and five people sent to hospital in Brant County crash

Two people have died and five others were taken to hospital in a Brant County crash. CTV’s Leighanne Evans reports.

Two people have died in a three-vehicle crash in Brant County.

Emergency services, including the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were called to Colborne Street East between McBay and Langford Church roads, just east of Brantford, on Friday around 12:30 p.m.

Police said a pickup truck, SUV and minivan had collided.

The 38-year-old driver of the minivan and a 16-year-old passenger who had been in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the crash site.

“The driver and three occupants of the SUV along with the driver of the pickup truck were all transported to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries,” OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has footage of the incident, is asked to reach out to police.

In a social media post at 3:26 p.m., Sanchuk said Colborne Street East could remain closed between McBay and Langford Church roads for the next six to eight hours.
