Three men from Quebec have been arrested in connection with allegations of international cocaine trafficking, as uncovered by the federal Project Cache operation.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) eastern region section confirmed that Mathieu Provost, 38, from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Ysmael Rodrigues Da Costa, 30, from Brossard, have been charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
In addition, Ahmad Ebad Ebadi, 28, from Carignan, is charged with cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The RCMP alleges that Provost and Rodrigues Da Costa were involved in importing cocaine from Peru.
“Mr. Ebadi allegedly transported drugs for the group in the Montreal area,” a news release states.
The men are scheduled to appear at the Longueuil courthouse.
“It should be noted that, as part of a parallel investigation by the National Police of Peru, two Canadians involved in the same network, Frédéric Dewald and Francis Toupin-Bergevin, were found guilty of cocaine trafficking,” reads the release.
