Thief in Spider-Man mask drops through ceiling, steals $65K in goods and cash

Police are searching for a person who broke into an Alberta store wearing a Spider-Man mask and stole cash and merchandise.

Mounties are looking for a person who wore a Spider-Man mask while stealing from a business south of Edmonton.

On March 23 at 2:25 a.m. the masked thief broke into a cigar shop at 51 Street and 50 Avenue in Leduc and stole cash and goods from the store before leaving through a back door.

The owner of the store, who took over in mid-February, told CTV News Edmonton the total value of the cash and merchandise stolen is approximately $65,000.

Police say the thief got into the store by accessing the ceiling of a vacant business next door.

Lines to the security camera were cut before the theft.

In addition to the Spider-Man mask, the burglar was also wearing a yellow jacket and yellow gloves.
