Condolences are pouring in for the family of a young man killed in a shooting at a college campus bar in Sarnia.
Dane Nisbet – who was a junior hockey player for multiple organizations in southwestern Ontario – was identified by police as the victim in the incident at Lambton College Friday April 10.
Nisbet played most recently with the North Middlesex Stars of the PJCHL.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Dane Nisbet, a tough and talented player whose passion for the game touched everyone lucky enough to know him,” the Stars said in a statement. “Dane will be remembered for his kindness, determination, and always looking out for his teammates. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire hockey community.”
Nisbet played five games for the Stars this past season after previously suiting up for the Mooretown Flags, Sarnia Legionnaires, and Lambton Jr. Sting AAA.
When police arrived on scene to the college, three people were found hurt, one with life-threatening injuries. Nisbet later died in hospital.
Nisbet played parts of three seasons with the Mooretown Flags Jr. C team in the PJCHL.
He took a step back from hockey this year after enrolling in the Canadian Armed forces, Flags General Manager John Baker told CTV News.

“This situation is impacting so many in our community and our hearts go out to all being impacted,” wrote the Flags. “This loss is a profound tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to Dane’s family, loved ones, and friends and to everyone affected by this staggering loss.”
Baker added the other two victims were former Flags players.
“The bond shared between teammates is lifelong, and we know this loss will be felt deeply by the coaches, players, and families who shared the ice with him,” wrote the Jr. Sting AAA team. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Nisbet family and all of Dane’s loved ones. Our thoughts also remain with the two others injured and everyone affected this morning. We stand in solidarity with the entire Sarnia-Lambton community during this incredibly difficult time.”
The Sarnia Legionnaires of the GOHL wrote on their website, “Dane played a short time with us but made a big impact.”
Nisbet suited up for 10 games with the Jr. B club in 2024-2025, “He loved the game and was a valued teammate. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Dane’s family & friends.”
They also wrote that for those struggling with the recent tragic events, to reach out to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Nobody has been arrested as of yet.
