A shocking crash involving a driver allegedly fleeing the scene of an earlier collision in Abbotsford, B.C., was caught on camera last week.
The Abbotsford Police Department shared the video Monday, along with an appeal for witnesses and information to assist with the investigation.
Officers were responding to reports of a two-vehicle collision on April 9 around 4:45 p.m. when they were told the driver of one of the vehicles, a blue Hyundai SUV had “fled the initial collision at a high rate of speed,” the department said in a statement about the incident.
The driver continued along OId Yale Road, crossing into oncoming traffic before jumping the curb, crashing into a tall tree and slipping the vehicle in Crossley Park, according to authorities.

When first responders arrived, they found three people in the SUV—none of whom were seriously injured, the Abbotsford Police Department said.
Anyone who was in the park at the time of the collision or who has dash-camera video that could be helpful to investigators is urged to call 604-859-5225 and quote file number 2026-14972.
An Abbotsford Police Department spokesperson told CTV News, in an email, the driver is co-operating with the investigation.
“Police currently have an active dangerous driving investigation open. Should the evidence support it, the driver could face a criminal charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,” Sgt. Paul Walker wrote.
“At this time, no arrests have been made.”
