OPP have laid charges following a car crash that killed a St. Thomas teen last November.

Five months after a crash involving a grain truck claimed the life of a St. Thomas teenager, provincial police have announced charges have been laid against the 17-year-old driver.

As previously reported by CTV News, on Nov. 14, 2025 at approximately 12:57 p.m., Elgin County OPP, fire crews and EMS responded to the intersection of Quaker Road and Southdale Line for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

The collision involved a sedan and a grain truck.

In an update from Elgin County OPP on Tuesday, following the investigation, the 17-year-old driver of the sedan has since been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing death.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
