Residents of a northeast London subdivision are on edge as the search continues for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at Sarnia, Ont.’s Lambton College earlier this month.
Residents on edge
Residents are on edge as Sarnia police canvassed a Boullee street townhouse complex Saturday morning, searching for information regarding murder suspect Kyaw “Chin” Doe.
Police are in the area because the suspect’s last known address was on Boullee Street.
“Pretty shocked. I’m pretty sure I’m pretty scared. Like, all around here, you know, like people. It’s pretty scary, too, you know?” said Vu Nguyen, who lives in the complex.

“This senseless death and in front of the Lion’s Den [Pub] at Lambton College has rocked our community. This is something that does not occur in Sarnia very often. It’s felt throughout our whole city,” said Det. Reg Musclow, Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division.
During a news conference Saturday morning, Musclow explained that multiple members of the Sarnia Police Service are present on Boulee Street to canvass the neighbourhood and hand out pamphlets to inform residents of a $25,000 reward for information leading to Doe’s arrest.
“What we’d like to do is try to make this as fast and as safe as possible. The best thing that Mr. Doe can do is contact his lawyer and turn himself in immediately,” he said.
Sarnia police warn that anyone found to be harboring or assisting Doe evade police may face criminal charges.

The shooting
As previously reported by CTV News, on April 10 at 12:52 am, police were called to the Lion’s Den Pub at Lambton College campus bar for a report of gunfire after one group of people became involved in an altercation with another group,
Upon arrival, police located three injured people, one who sustained life-threatening injuries and two with non-life-threatening injuries.
Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and in the hospital, 20-year-old Dane Nisbet was later pronounced deceased.

On Friday, a funeral ceremony was held for Nisbet. Hundreds of mourners attended to pay their respects, including Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley and Coun. Adam Kilner.
“The bullet that hit Dane’s chest pierced all our hearts,” his family wrote in his obituary. “He will be remembered.”
$25,000 reward
The primary suspect in the investigation has since been identified as Kyaw “Chin” Doe, who Sarnia police believe to be actively evading arrest, and who may be attempting to alter his appearance and clothing.
Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers shared Friday that the organization, in partnership with the Sarnia Police Service Board, are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to Doe’s arrest.

On April 15, a Canada wide arrest warrant was issued for Doe. He is wanted on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
The investigation and search to apprehend him remains ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding Doe’s whereabouts and who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or go online at www.p3tips.com.
Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers says the partnership with the Sarnia Police Service Board is for the reward increase only, and all information must come through Crime Stoppers to be guaranteed anonymity.
