A suspect “rammed” a truck and stolen travel trailer into an RCMP vehicle in Kamloops, B.C., early Monday morning, according to authorities.

Kamloops RCMP said the incident shut down a stretch of Pacific Way, and that the route would remain closed until around 9 a.m.

The trailer was reported stolen from a storage compound in Savona—a nearby unincorporated community—at around 4:15 a.m., the detachment said in a news release.

Cpl. Dana Napier said officers located the trailer hooked up to a truck in Kamloops not long after and tried to pull the driver over.

“The driver of the truck and trailer allegedly rammed a police vehicle in an attempt to flee,” Napier said in a statement. “While the police vehicle was damaged, the officer was not injured.”

The driver then crashed into a fence and fled the area, authorities said.. So far, officers have not been able to locate a suspect.

The RCMP asked anyone with information on the incident—including dash-cam video that could help their investigation—to call the Kamloops detachment at 250-828-3000 or the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800.
