A “police incident” that halted ferries at the Horseshoe Bay terminal for several hours Sunday afternoon has been resolved.
Just after 6 p.m., the West Vancouver Police Department said the area is reopening to the public.
Ferries from West Vancouver to Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast were held at dock starting around noon due to an incident on the Queen of Surrey vessel, according to BC Ferries.
Meanwhile, Horseshoe Bay-bound sailings from Nanaimo were held away from dock, delaying arrival and offloading.
Police earlier said officers were on scene “assisting a person in need and co-ordinating with partner agencies” and that there was no risk to public safety.

A passenger told CTV News police—including members of the heavily armed Emergency Response Team—and two ambulances were at the ferry terminal.
The scheduled 11:55 a.m. sailing to Snug Cove ultimately departed around 6:30 p.m. and ferries from Nanaimo that had been waiting off shore since the early afternoon began to dock. Just before 7 p.m., BC Ferries said service to Langdale would resume “as soon as possible.”
“Thank you to our customers for your patience during this delay,” the company wrote.
