HALIFAX — The premier of Nova Scotia says he’d be open to implementing permanent daylight time if the other Atlantic provinces are on board.
Tim Houston says abandoning the twice-annual clock change is not something Nova Scotia would do alone.
Houston told reporters today the topic will be discussed with the other Atlantic premiers next time they meet.
The premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and P.E.I. did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Permanent daylight time would result in longer periods of darkness in the mornings during winter months and more daylight at day’s end.
British Columbia announced on March 2 it would adopt year-round daylight time, and Alberta introduced legislation Thursday to follow suit.
