No injuries have been reported.

CN says the cause of the derailment is under investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

“Preliminary reports indicate that two locomotives derailed upright,” said Thomas Bateman, public affairs manager with CN, in a statement to CTV News Atlantic.

In an update they report a small amount of engine oil leaked from one of the locomotives.

“The leak was contained to railway property and is being recovered. There is no impact to public safety. Work on site is expected to proceed into Tuesday,” Bateman adds.

“The crossings that were initially blocked have been cleared.”

Clarification

A previous version of this article stated the derailment happened on a "New Brunswick Southern Railway spur," as reported by the Transportation Safety Board. However, J.D. Irving says it does not own the track.
