School bus carrying children crashes on Winnipeg street

Winnipeg police are investigating after a school bus carrying students crashed into a tree Monday morning.

A school bus carrying students crashed on a northwest Winnipeg street Monday morning.

CTV News cameras were on scene on Forest Cove Drive, where it appeared a school bus, which sustained noticeable front-end damage, had collided with a tree. Police and a tow truck were also on scene responding to the incident.

The bus lists Dasmesh School on its side, which is a private kindergarten to Grade 8 school with locations in West St. Paul and on Winnipeg’s King Edward Street.

A spokesperson with the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said crews responded to the crash at approximately 8:45 a.m.

“Paramedics assessed all children on the bus, as well as the driver,” the spokesperson wrote. “No one required transport to hospital.”

The spokesperson said 27 kids were on the bus at the time.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s traffic unit is now investigating.
