Mounties were called Tuesday night to a disturbance in Norway House Cree Nation, located roughly 800 kilometres north of Winnipeg, at the Playgreen Inn bar. RCMP say they found two men just south of Lagoon Road suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the injured, a 25-year-old man, died from his injuries. A second victim, a 38-year-old man, was treated and released from hospital.

In a Wednesday morning news release, Norway House Cree Nation said it’s believed the shooting was a targeted act.

The community was put in lockdown after the shooting, which was lifted Wednesday afternoon.
