Gatineau police say a 21-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a late-night homicide at a strip club on Main Street in April.
According to a statement from police issued in French, Bradley Girard is facing one count of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 39-year-old Justine Larche.
On April 23, police responded to reports of gunfire at Bar 77 in the Lac-Beauchamp district. Larche was found with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they arrested Girard on May 2 in the municipality of Nominingue in the Laurentians.
Bar 77 says in a post on Facebook that it will be holding a vigil in honour of Larche in front of the business on Sunday at 8 p.m.
“Former devoted colleague and precious friend, Justine has marked our hearts with her light, courage and majestic intelligence. She had come to celebrate her new project among us, surrounded by love and today it is our turn to celebrate the exceptional woman she was,” the post said.
Bar 77 has stayed closed since the shooting. This was Gatineau’s first homicide of the year.
